The debut album by Echo Junkies is a surreal journey.
Jon St. James and Skip Hahn are forever ingrained with the musical truths of artists from Cream, Hendrix and Pink Floyd to Ennio Morricone, and Erik Satie. If the Echo Junkies CD plays like a soundtrack, it's not by accident. Hahn and St. James paint their music landscapes with a broad palette of analog colors, seasoned with digital tools. Distinctive Euro/American guitar licks are embedded in tunes inspired by 60's Rock, Folk, Blues, Jazz and European cinematic themes. All the elements are present, great tones and textures, cool changes and beautifully finessed playing that is classic sounding, but modern and hip at the same time. Hahn and St. James create magic together. Their voices blend effortlessly on "Lost Girls" and their solo guitars on "The Big Font Yard" seem to complete each others phrases. Echo Junkies are here. . .
